I loved Grants first podcast. He is such a motivator! I probably listened to it 15 times. I couldn’t listen to Dave Ramsey again after that. I loved how he talked about creating and expanding - not contracting or keeping things small. I guess he is using some smoke and mirrors to keep his name out there. He said in that podcast (paraphrase) If you can get half of the country to hate you, you could be president!

He is not my cup of tea but man he gets slammed. Are folks saying he takes naive investors money and basically doesn’t know what the hell he’s doing? Or is it that he is just brash as hell and seems to get away with it?
I will say his Cardone University stuff has been pretty awesome.
Care to elaborate? His tactics seem to be the bastard child of a used car and timeshare sales person. Do people in your world really respond to that? Do they list their properties based on a hard sell?

Fake, real, somewhere in-between...those aren't the questions I would be asking.
Would you trust your hard earned money with this person or their company? This is the only pertinent question in my mind. To answer this, you need to be asking yourself what do these people/companies really do?
Today more than ever before, there are an expanding number of syndicators vying for your hard earned dollars. As passive investors, it is extremely important to recognize exactly who you are investing with. Many of the larger syndicators these days are NOT real estate companies or operators. They are MARKETING experts. They just use real estate as their vehicle. They could just as well be selling pizza chain franchises.
Were I placing my money with a syndicator, I would make sure they come from a real estate background. I would make sure they were busying their minds with operational challenges, not focusing on building a "platform".

You said it right. They are marketing experts and RE is the best way for them to load up on capital and take a shot at higher net worth. Savvy and well heeled investors can see through these youtube gimmicks of flashy cars, rented jets etc. The wet behind the ears, lower income, 20 something however will bite into the marketing. What is being marketed or how it is being marketing is not illegal. The consumption of the marketing could appear foolish and misleading to the savvy educated investor. But remember that is not the target market for the marketer. He/she may rather stay the heck away from the more astute crowd.

Had Grant not invented bad news, this thread wouldn't exist which was the whole point... to break through the noise and get people talking even if it's negative... having said that, I personally wouldn't want to do anything that may hurt my network's trust in me.

@Andrew Hogan, kinda my point, i don't see how this promotes trust? not really buying the "any publicity is good" if your business is built on reputation. He posted that video b.t.w., so what was the reason? scare his investors? recruit clients? NOT good timing!

Indeed. It did get people talking. But inventing bad news in these times. Is it really a smart move and importantly an ethical one is the big question. Fact is negative events (cat fights, violence, conflicts, bad news etc) have been craftily used to drive up eyeballs and ratings for reality TV shows. Controversy sells, no doubt. Gossip is big business all over the world. But that’s reality TV and gossip magazines and this is real peoples real money. There is a big difference. So the jury is truly out on if the creator of the message is a genius as some posters suggest or outright dumb as some others suggest.

I get the marketing tactic. He deleted the video so I guess it was not the attention he was looking for. It was clearly a marketing mistake to many observers. Perhaps more marketing for tenants would suit his investors better considering they are getting nada at the moment. Marketing for more investors when the current investors are not getting paid seems a bit out of touch tbh.

@Will G.grant just released a youtube video saying yesterday's Instagram post was not true. He was trying to prove the point of how bad news and bad media travels faster than good news.

From this thread, It seems like many BP Users would not consider it bad news.
They forget he says he never factors appreciation or rent increases in cash flow n when it comes to rent growth to always think that rents can go down. Cardone University is actually a good site.
