Can anyone recommend resources that will help me understand how investors are purchasing shares, meaning the process of purchasing shares, from partners looking to sell them?

I am in the Tri-State area (NY, NJ, CT)

One of the more common ways this is done right now is via syndication. At the end of the day, investors are buying shares in ownership LLCs.

BiggerPockets just put out a book on the topic of passive investing called The Hands Off Investor - that would be a great place to start. There are also podcasts & YouTube channels you can get into to learn more.

Depending on your goals You want to research TIC that's the easiest and most liquid way to buy shares directly in a property.

Next option is investing in a syndication. This is also a direct investment but is not as liquid as many sponsors do not allow the sale or transfer of shares to third parties.

@Greg Dickerson One more question. How would you go about looking for TIC opportunities? A RE attorney? I did not know what those were until 5 minutes ago post-google. Thank you in advance for the heads up.
