10 unit in Cleveland, OH. Only 5 tenants and gas bill is $700/month. Is it me or is that high?
What change/upgrade should I do to reduce this bill other than charging the tenants a "utility bill"?
Any help/advice would appreciated.

@Tim W. if you have a boiler heating up this place, as many smaller Cleveland apartment buildings do, you'll run into higher heating costs and gas bills.
$700/month - $70/unit - $140/occupied unit.
If that is the case, you may want to increase rents (heat included) or consider your options of separate gas meters, furnaces, etc. Good luck.
Thanks to everyone who responded to my initial post. Just had a RECON visit performed by a recommended HVAC company. Apparently, the steam system is very old and the valves and vents are leaking. Drip leg needs to be installed. Boiler is cracking and popping. Combustion air system needs to be added as well.
Why the inspector said "marginal" condition in his report is my question.
Looking at doing all the repairs $18,500 + new boiler (haven't got a quote on that).
After all of these repairs, I'm going to assume a substantial gas savings. I'm pretty frustrated with the whole thing.
Anyone know a ballpark figure for a new boiler?
