This is not unique or rare necessarily. I believed the seller and their broker once and did not verify. I took them at their word that there was no need to see that unit too. Always verify everything, in the end the only person you can blame is yourself. 

Mistakes are on you, no one else is to blame. The devil is in the details in this business whether you are looking at a deal, an applicant or a PM. Insurance coverage, whatever. All on you!
