Is it worth it?

Hi everyone. I'm new here and my hometown of Vero Beach, FL, is kind of expensive. I was thinking about exploring Gainesville, as I went to school there, know the area more than other places, prices are more reasonable, and there's always a student population that needs housing.
Is there anyone out there making Gainesville work these days? Realtor recs? The last posts I saw were from a few years ago.

Hi @Elizabeth Holman , welcome to the BP Forum! I have a client that does the exact same thing in Tally. What type of properties are you seeking, SFR, 2-4 MF, or 5+ MF? What is your price range/down payment amount? Are you looking for turn-key properties or something along the lines of a "fixer upper"?

Hi @Elizabeth Holman! I did a quick search and there are tons of duplexes, condos, and townhouses in the area. I don't know the preferred areas, but here's a duplex I found that's well under $400k: 2027-2033 SW 70th Ter, Gainesville, FL 32607.

@Jaycee Greene Thanks for responding. I'd like to ideally spend less than $400 all in. Perhaps a little Reno would be fine, but I don't know any contractors yet so I'm wary to bite off more than I can chew. I don't think I want totally turnkey either. Possibly a condo, duplex, or townhome. I'd like my son so be able to live there should he ever go to school there.
