Market Mondays - Superbowl to Real Estate

With the excitement of Super Bowl Sunday still fresh and as a previous D1 Football player, I wanted to talk about the correlation between football and multifamily investing.

1. Competitive by Nature
- Winning requires obsession. In multifamily, the most successful operators are competitive, disciplined, and relentless in pursuit of strong risk adjusted returns. This is what keeps me up at night.

2. Strategy before Execution
- Teams do not improvise on game day. They enter with a clear game plan. Multifamily success starts with a well built business plan, conservative underwriting, and clear assumptions before a deal is ever closed.

3. Adjustments Win Championships
- No plan survives first contact unchanged. Great teams adjust to what the other side is doing. In multifamily, operators must react to interest rates, supply, demand, leasing velocity, and expenses in real time.

4. Team Alignment Matters
- Talent alone does not win at the highest level. Alignment does. Strong deals require trust and coordination between partners, lenders, and operators.

5. Consistency Beats Highlights
- Championships are not won on one big play, otherwise everyone would always just throw the "Hail Mary". This is a gamble and a prayer not game plan for continued success. Multifamily performance compounds through steady execution, expense control, and long term thinking.

Also, Go Niners! Next year is our year right?!...
