I just received my tax return. I got killed because I’m not a “Real Estate Professional”. I’ve never heard any discussion of the importance of this qualification.

You get a larger tax break if you are full time in real estate. Now if you work a job but own a lot of homes, that still benefits you but not as much as if you were full time.
