In Clintwood Virginia? I would think without stats to back me, the Sherrifs department, mayor, town council and a few judges. You can also get around 2.5 one acre lots for that amount with no houses on them. In 5 years from now you can get 2.5 1/4 acre lots and no houses. Right now however you can get over a 1/4 down stroke on the 5 million dollar Mansion I have tried to tell about in some other threads and owner finanancing for the balance at 4% as as a bonus I am sure we would toss in the Rolls Royce as well and return it to its original resting spot.
That would also secure you a 1/8 interest in a commercial level hat concern that competes with the worlds largest hatters without overhead.
That would get you about a 1000 acres of "mountain property" and a lot of peace of mind.
I am beginning to think I have STUPID written accross my forehead but then I realize I am looking at others and not in the mirrow at all when I see them tossing that kind of coin at ratty little properties in smog filled cities when they can have pristine mountain fresh air and hundreds of acres for the same investments.
Has the world went this crazy or has it already gone there and I just missed it. I know I know I have family just moved from Orange County to Palm Desert and Riverside and its really gone crazy.
Now my question is why would anyone want to live like that for free must less pay a fortune for that torture. Masochist comes to mind about now.
When you put on your thinking caps try to think Gladhatter and give us a call.
Pasadena, California - not a darn thing. Actually, I stand corrected, there is a "home" on the market for $199K - 1 bdrm, 280sf on a on a 600 sf lot. I think I'd have to lose more weight to live in it!

I sold my property in May for $251,000 in a small town of Falling Waters WV it is located in berkelely county WV ranked 68 fast growing in the USA. homes were popping up everywere so I relocated to a place were that same house would sell for $120,000. Oh by the way when i sold my home I payed my debt off completely cars trucks blabllablala and the attorney at closing still gave me a check for $164,000 so blalbllbabla I relocated to a less valuable area were I can start taking classes on splelling :) BUt when i sold mine FSBO the house was on the market for 5 weeks no advertising just the sign out front there were 30 properties on the market in my area, a few weeks ago i think there were about 90 and some of the properties that were on the market with mine are still there and they have dropped there prices alot about 30,000
On Kent Island 250K will currently get you a house that is quite literally falling down, or a trailer with a 2-car det gar. There is usually very little available in that range, maybe the occasional one br condo or house that needs to be rehabbed from the studs or torn down. You cain't even get a buildable lot for 250K here.

Contrary to popular opinion.....you can get into the Orange County (SoCal) housing market for under $500k.... for $250k or less you can buy a 1+1 in Santa Ana, Lake Forest, and Anaheim ...sq ft is usually around 500-600.

Reading through this thread is like going on a BP archealogical dig. Not much talk about cash flow. Also interesting that the term "bubble" was still rare.

I Round rock that will buy you a really nice 2500 square foot house with limestone, nice appliances, etc. In Georgetown it will also buy you an acre of so of land with the same house.

In Las Vegas,
Investment wise it could get you 5-8 properties that cash flow
For a home to live in, in more expensive parts of towns, 2000-2700 sqft decent house with maybe a pool. or 3000-4000 sqft house in a less expensive part of town
