Family member in need of guidance

Good morning all,

I have a family member who is in need of financial guidance and I thought I would reach out to BP in search of help for her. Without going into a lot of personal details, my cousin owns her home, no mortgage, and is appraised for 375k. She is 61 y.o. with no monthly income due to several brain aneurysms . Her daughter (draws SSDI) and grandchild live with her and they have been living on less than $1,000/mo. She wants to obtain a HELOC for less than 75k but unsure if (and I doubt) she can get a loan without a monthly income. She wants to do some minor repairs/painting to her home and then sell and downsize. She is also in need of an attorney but has no money. She has no debts other than usual living expenses and has not had any credit other than her home as she has always paid cash. I could possibly loan her some money but only with using her home as collateral. I do not want to co-sign on a loan. I know all to well how loaning family members money. Life, unfortunately has dealt her a hand that she does not deserve and has been put in a most unfair position by her evil mother. Does she have any legitimate options available to her in getting a loan using her home as collateral without a monthly income and no co-signer?

Thanks in advance for any insight into this matter!

Micki H.

Sell the way it is. Very rare to get 100% back what you put into it.
