Hello BP Family,
Has anyone had to evict a military family? After two months of tenancy, I've decided to evict my tenants, a military family for non payment of rent & unfit living conditions. During a site visit of the premises, I observed hoarding conditions of my newly renovated unit. After giving them a notice to vacate premises, they have repeatedly called/texted me with which I believe are erroneous claims. For example water leaking from upstairs. I sent someone to assess the condition and they would not allow them inside. I refuse to answer any calls from them or respond to their texts.
I blame myself for not doing a better job of tenant due diligence & screening. I have filed papers for summary ejectment. I believe they are professional tenants! Someone suggested that I reached out to the JAG Millitary Headquarters about this situation and possible reimbursement for damages. Has anyone reached out to the Military regarding their difficult tenant, non payment of rent and property damages.
The SSG is the place you want to work. They have an interest in keeping them in the good graces of everyone else and keeping their name clean. If your objective is to get them gone, then contacting their chain of command was the wrong move. You asked the one person who has huge influence on them to keep them going to help, and then said..... "I just want them gone and out of my house".
Essentially think that your child/niece/nephew/cousins kid/friends childs landlord said "(insert name) is not paying their rent, I need your help to keep them above board and going right"
You said "I will help and keep them on the right path, I will make sure you get paid and things are taken care of, thank you and I am on it I will guarantee payment is handled"
Then they said "I don't want them as a tenant and just want them gone"
...... Your response may justifiably be "Ok then good luck, it's on you now, you aren't helping them keep a residence, why should I help you kick them out? I offered to help fix it, not boot the family. Good luck"
