We have several dishwashers and fridges that will need to be replaced in the next couple weeks. Our properties are in Washington state and we're looking for the best place to find replacement units? Please offer your advice on the best place to purchase these large capital expenditures. Thank you!
If you buy used be sure to check the age by model & serial #. Don't count on the seller to know how old it is. $200 for a 15 year old item isn't worth it.
Hello. here in San Diego if you want new then home depot is where I always go they make it easy with the delivery included. Then if you wanted used we use offer up or craigslist. I would maybe ask if you can see if it works before you take it from someone if you are buying used.
We just completed 3 apartment renovations and we purchased all new from Loews. There's a 1 year manufacturer warranty (I just had a dishwasher repair covered by that). Also, we purchased an additional warranty for 3 items, so if any of the 9 items break after the 1 year, it will be covered.
I wouldn't' bank on Sears. They won't be around much longer =/ But one I haven't seen yet is the Habitat for Humanity Re-Store granted it's a mix of selections but the prices are great if you can get appliances. Generally, it has fixtures toilets vanities etc .
Sears scratch and dent seem to be the most competitive, and to your points will not carry much weight in terms of warranty / service given the struggling brick and mortar model.
I just get budget stuff on sale at Home Depot . Free delivery 15$ removal of old appliance and you got a brand new tested unit fully covered If It faIls . Go to a second hand store and you’ll have tenant calling on a Sunday night that the fridge or oven just crapped out . Half the crap sold at used apolIance stores has reached Its servIce lIfe or has been rebuilt three tImes . Im Tired of fighting junk and the calls when new economy applIances Are just another 150 bucks more and you know what you got plus it makes the unit that much more desirable to rent out

@Ryan Judah You are a little ways South of me, but the Judd & Black appliance has a liquidation center in Everett. The scratches/dents are typically on the sides or back due to damage during shipping from the manufacturer.
Or, if the rental is not high-end you can get bottom of the barrel prices at the Appliance Recycling Outlet in Snohomish. They sell used/refurbished appliances, and have some new appliances in stock as well.
Used on craigslist. Warranties are a waste of money and if needed will cause major delays in repairs. Easier to keep used ones available to swap out then do repairs yourself.
It is very easy to find appliances a couple of years old for $200 that will last as long as new.
