We've been primarily using Google to search for furniture and lighting fixtures to buy, and struggling to find pieces that we like. I often see items on Instagram and Pinterest that I can't locate online, so perhaps I'm missing some sources?
Looking for suggestions beyond top 20 Google search result sites like Houzz, Etsy, Overstock, Wayfair, Target, Walmart, etc. or Google., and the same for lighting.
How/where do interior designers source fixtures or furniture, particular for modern furniture or lighting?
Believe it or not, but we've been getting some really solid deals on Amazon. I've even heard of some people using their "shop the look" feature by saving down pictures of designs they like (oof of Pinterest, Instagram, etc.) and uploading them to the shop the look platform. Amazon matches the products in the picture with similar products across Amazon
Generally, interior designers work with companies that only sell wholesale. If you do see a photo of something you like, do a reverse image search on Google to see where it came from. https://images.google.com/ In the search box, click on the little camera symbol on the right.

Go to a local mom and pop store and tell them you'd like to use them exclusively to outfit your property, and if you do, ask them what deal they can give you. Always barter!
We furnish our boutique motels pretty much solely via Amazon/Wayfair. Sometimes we'll buy bulky things like sofas or dressers locally, but we've had luck sourcing these items on Wayfair as well. Can't beat the price. Just be ready to assemble! Light fixtures, faucets, etc typically all on Amazon - best selection, best price.
