Metro Detroit STR Management Companies?

Question

Hi everyone!

I’m self-managing a short term rental in the metro Detroit area and am considering working with a management company to save time and hassle for myself (more time to find the next deal, right??)

Im vetting some of the larger management companies to do this for me, but have always heard it’s best to stay local. So, does anyone work with or recommend any STR property management companies that are local to Metro Detroit/Southeast Michigan?

Any other comments, advice, knowledge are welcome as well - thanks in advance!

TC Stayz is a division of Coldwell Banker Town & Country covering Metro Detroit areas (Livingston, Oakland and Wayne counties). They manage STRs all types of rentals. Let me know if you'd like more info.

This Monday I attended a very good North Carolina Real Estate Investors Association (NCREI webinar on STR's lead by Emir Dukic, CEO of Rabbu.com, an STR management company based in Charlotte, NC but services available nationwide. Davis, I thought someone would answer this properly for you so I held off.

My advice is to join the "SE Michigan AirBnb Professional Hosts" group on FB. There are some great folks in there (myself included) and one person in particular that I respect and would trust to manage my STR in Detroit. Her name is Jennifer Allen and I'd highly recommend talking with her.

That said, I have never personally worked with her but she has always impressed me.

@Davis Hooten we're not aware of anyone doing this on a large scale.

Couple of people we know do them for "Friends".

You may want to attend the Metro Detroit REI meeting Thursday, February 23 @ 6pm, at McVees Pub on Long Lake in Troy.

I would consider self management for multiple reasons.

1. You learn the systems, properties, and ins and outs by self managing.

2. You are going to save yourself a PM fee

3. Self management is not as labor intensive as people think with good systems, which is why #1 is important.

Avery Carl has a great book, Short Term Rental, Long Term Wealth that lays a clear pathway for self management.
