I'm looking to start renting directly on my strs and not rely solely on Airbnb and Vrbo.  What insurance company gives good insurance similar to the Airbnb/vrbo ones for residential homes?

Hey @Javier Emilio Tirado, are you saying you aren't carrying any kind of insurance other than the non-insurance "guarantee" from AirBNB and VRBO?

If so, you are at tremendous risk. Neither VRBO nor AirBNB provide actual insurance. They only have a guarantee (which is dubious) to pay for any guest caused damage. Getting them to pay out for a $500 claim is tough enough. Try and do that for a 100k fire.

Now you will have to reach out to Proper, Foremost. They are the top names in STR insurance.

You can also check with your current insurer and see what they offer (assuming you have insurance). Maybe they have some kind of STR rider that can be added to your homeowners that will cover you.

Now, if you are currently carrying STR insurance already and you mean something like what Generali offers to VRBO guests. Up to $3000 coverage provided for guest caused damages?

If you mean that, then you can look at Safely - https://safely.com/

Of course all this depends on who will insure in Puerto Rico.
