Posting here because it is technically about short term rentals. Wondering if anyone has tried doing crash pads for Airforce TDYs. My wife and many friends are in the military and this was an idea brought up in conversation. Would like to connect with anyone who has experience with it if possible!

I operate in MacDill AFB area and there are a lot of options from luxury houses (a lot of O6+ there) down to padsplits and apartment rentals.  It is a viable strategy I imagine near most major posts.

I have attempted this with a couple of my listings close to a base in Biloxi, MS. I've discussed with someone who does this regularly with a 4-plex & he said the base has a FB group that they direct incoming personnel to in order to find housing. I personally haven't hosted any but do advertise my unit to military via said FB group but the monthly amount they're wanting to spend doesn't exceed my monthly incoming doing STR just on weekends so hasn't worked out thus far. Could likely check out MTR also as most I've come across have wanted it closer to 60-90 days.

I’ve used Zillow to list for TDY.  Near Hurlburt and Eglin AFB.  Had a pilot stay for 5 months.  Haven’t had much luck since then.  It’s a fully furnished 3/2 house.  I also use the military sites.  Maybe the government shut down is causing the slow down.

3/2 furnished is one of the harder ones to rent from my experience

I have seen people successfull at it. The key is having a place near bases with high TDY rates where on base lodging is frequently unavailable. Think AETC bases and near MAJCOMs.
