Aspiring RE Investor - Hello!

Hi BP community! I’ve been a BP PRO for a few years but I’m introducing myself for the very first time now. I’m a CA licensed Architect specializing in Residential Projects in Los Angeles CA. I’ve been designing residences for so long, but I have yet to invest in RE!

I’m slowly gathering the courage and knowledge to be able to do so. I’m inspired by all of you and I’m so happy to have this community to learn from. If I can offer any thoughts or advice on the Project side of things, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me.

    Welcome to the forum Chabeli! 

    Any major strategies you are planning to hone in on? I'm sure with your skillset eventually getting into land development/huge renovations/value add may be on the radar!

    Hi Chebeli,  I'm a Pasadena area GC and been investing in real estate since 2008.  Since we are local to each other we should connect. So much I can tell you about RE investing both in SoCal (mostly flip and development) and out of state (rentals). I'll send you a connection request.

    Hi Max! I thought about starting out with 1 single family residence for long term or midterm rental. Ideally it’s here in Socal BUT I’m open to out of state investing. I looked into starting out with turnkey properties…just to get familiar with the process…but eventually would like to do Multifamily. Land Development is def something I’m interested in. Taking an empty site or reimagining an existing/abandoned building into housing or mixed use is most definitely a goal of mine. At this point – I feel like I just need to start. Stuck in analysis paralysis.

     We've all been there! It's tough with a market like that to start in. On one hand, you want something local to learn the ropes, on the other hand, I'm not sure if there are good deals out there for the beginner. Definitely a definable decision to make to take the next steps! I am trying to get myself out of "stuck" mode but it sure is tough.

    Aloha Chabeli!  Welcome to BP!   My wife and I are closing escrow on (2) MFU's in Mid City.  We want to rearrange the triplex and quadplex and would love to get an Architect perspective to rearrange things without going too crazy our our budget.   We will be in LA in about 2 weeks.  In turn,  we can walk you through some of our projects in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and Hawaii!   We primarily fix/flip and buy/hold.  Please let me know.  Mahalo!
