moved to Idaho for work, I still have my house on a lake in Washington and want to rent it. I was thinking bnb, signed up for this site but not sure where to start.

Welcome! I’d start by figuring out what the home would rent for as a traditional long-term rental and then compare that against realistic short-term rental numbers for the area. Being on a lake could definitely make Airbnb worth looking into, but I’d also check the local short-term rental regulations before getting too far down that road. Since you’re now in Idaho, the other big thing I’d think about is management. Short-term rentals can produce more income, but they’re also a lot more hands-on, especially when you’re managing from another state. You’ll need a reliable cleaner and someone local who can handle issues when they come up. BiggerPockets is a great place to learn, so I’d spend some time searching the forums for your specific Washington market and connecting with people already operating rentals there. Keeping the house and turning it into a rental can be a great way to start building a portfolio you just want to make sure the numbers and management side make sense before deciding which direction to go. Im local to the treasure valley, if you ever want to grab a coffee send me a dm

Post questions in the short term rental section here and also check out local Facebook groups for area specific information.
