About a week or two ago I learned about BP through its podcast. I've slowly been listening to select old podcasts since then and figured it was time to get involved in the rest of the site.
I am a small investor but would like to grow that at some point. I have had a two unit in Portland, ME for about a year and a half. I had a property management company run it up until last week. Now I'm taking over everything (wish me luck!). I'm looking to get all (or at least most) of my processes squared away before getting another property. Right now I'm just hoping to soak up as much info as I can.
In my opinion, you're starting in all the right places. The podcasts are golden, and I'm fortunate enough to be able to listen to them at work. Any questions you have you can ask in the forums. There's an abundance of people here qualified to peroxide an answer.
Robert, I got a two-unit that had just been renovated. The realtor we used knew the the guy who was redoing it so we got it before it went on the market for about 315k. From my understanding (which is limited), the market has really taken off over the last 2-3 years.
@Andrew Magoun Good luck on taking it over, property management is easy until something doesn't go to plan. Your property management company should be a value add not sure what happened with your last company but if you looking for another one check out my company at MJP management.
@Robert Davis Portland is great market, barrier to entry can be difficult depending on how much capital you have to invest.
