I am new to BiggerPockets and interested connecting with other real estate investors in the area may be looking for properties to fix and flip (we have a family property would like to sell via private sale).
Welcome any tips and leads how to connect with others in the area.
Liz, welcome to BP! For connecting with others in the area, I'd recommend attending a local real estate investor group. I know of one in RI called RI Real Estate Investors Group (http://rireig.com) and they usually meet the 3rd Thursday of every month in Warwick - check their website to confirm before going of course, to find the location, etc.
Welcome! Good luck in your start. Do some searching for Rhode island in the forums and you can read some good threads about local concerns. You can also get a feel for peoples expertise and identify and read profiles of people you may want to connect with.
In regards to your family property I encourage you to really read before you enter into an off market situation. Know what you are getting into. Are you dealing with a direct buyer or a wholesaler? What are the pitfalls/benefits. You can only post such deals here in marketplace but depending on your timeline i would become read up before doing that. Also if there are other family members involved get their buy in upfront.
