Hello,
I'm currently in escrow on a property in Flamingo Heights / Yucca Valley. I'd love any and all recommendations on subs across: electrical, plumbing, tile, demo, framing/drywall, fireplace/ chimney experts
Please also let me know if you have any recommendations on housekeeping or airbnb management.

Subbing work out in the high desert aint for the faint of heart. Many on bp have shared stories of high desert fixers gone sideways
If you can find a licensed gc — in my experience they will charge 10-18% on top of the subs work. But may get a 5-10% discount (from what you would pay retail) or more on a loyal sub they work with. (Realtors are a good starting point for finding someone)
I havent worked with a gc all the way through a deal yet— just many many subs/handymen i unfortunately cant recomend very highly

Hi Megan, how did your deal go? Found reputable contractors/handyman? Proceeded doing Airbnb? I am seriously looking to buy a property at Yucca Valley for Airbnb in the next 45 days, doing 1031 exchange. Thanks.

@Sara Plaisted & @Francis Ferrer The renovation took a year but it was well worth it. I took a 2 bed 1 bath house and converted it into a 4 bed 2 bath within the existing floor plan (2200). It's up on Airbnb now, booked solid and far exceeding my pro forma, although it seems COVID is creating an artificial short term rental market spike. Hi-Desert market seems very saturated now and I do think the market will see some correction by the abundance of Airbnb's.
A few specific recommendations: Do not use Dave Kaiser for your GC and I had a bad experience with Desert Beacon for cleaning/mgmt services. High desert air and Hale electric were great subs. @Art Marquez for your architecture needs!
