I currently live in NorthWest Indiana I just sold my first house which i finished the basement and remodeled a bathroom and made some money on that I'm a HUGE skier and dirtbike rider so looking to move to the mountains my strategy is to buy a multi family home and house hack while improving property while living in it then in a year or two refinance and the start the BRRRR my biggest question right now is where is the best places to invest close to some ski resorts im currently looking at ogden/salt lake city and have been for about 6 months and it hasn't gone well thinking maybe logan UT, Pocatello ID, Blackfoot ID, grand junction CO, Rock springs WY any other insight is helpfully thank you!

@Mitchell Wildman Are you planning to live in these locations or invest in them? Or move to live there and invest there? House-hack? There are several areas all around Eastern Idaho that are great for that. If you want to invest in "ski areas" that makes it sound like you plan to use it as a short-term rental. In which case, there are some smaller cities that are near great ski locations that could work just fine for that purpose. Well hi there! Former Hoosier here.
I moved to Denver Colorado. It is so beautiful and lovely up here in the mountains. Grand junction is the best place as far as price is concerned on the west coast or rock springs wy. Depends on your goals. And how much you want to travel as well.
For me: proximity to mountains, proximity to airport, proximity to whatever else is important are #1

@Mitchell Wildman I'm not sure if you heard, but Kemmerer, WY is getting a big nuclear power plant belonging to Bill Gates and paid for largely by the US government that, if I am not mistaken, is replacing the coal power plant. That's located right between Logan, UT and Rock Springs, Wy which puts you not to far from Canyons/Park City and a little farther from Jackson Hole. There are going to be a lot of workers there for the next 7 years or so which means a 12-24 months might be great time to get in and get out. Last I checked a few months ago there were cheap homes and development land on the market but those may be scooped up by now. However it may not be picked over yet for off-market deals so possibly worth taking a look. My main concerns are 1: rents are currently not terribly high so that might be a speculative play and 2: I have no idea how long it will take to learn to pronounce Kemmerer correctly.

Yes the plan is to move there then start investing there and i figured i could try and kill two birds with one stone by finding a multi family and living in one of the units (house-hacking), but I am looking for more long term rentals and i am also an electrician so i have some knowledge in the trades and want to eventually get into the BRRRR process
