Ok, has to be posted, the Cubs have clinched their division. This is the first time since 1906-1908 that the Cubs have won their division back to back years.
Just remember they last won the world series in 1908, so maybe history is repeating?

I think the number for home field is 2... Not positive though. Very excited for the playoffs especially seeing how no other team can match up against this team in a series.

With the Cubs victory today, they clinched having a better record than the White Sox. This is important to me because I have a standing bet with a die hard White Sox fan!

by my calculations, the Cubs Magic Number to clinch the top seed in the NL is 1. So 1 Cub win or 1 Phillies loss...We have clinched at least the #2 seed so we will have home field for the NLDS.

Well the Mets can be there, but the Brewers collapse at the end as well, as they did last year and again this year. So it is a battle between two teams that collapes..

I know what you mean......its getting tight. The mets got it tough, with 2 more games to go, with the best team in the league.
The phils have a 2 game set to end the season, with one of the worst teams in the league. (record wise) It just so happens that that team (Washington) has been kicking their a**es all over the field this year.....
The next 4-5 days is definitely going to be interesting. Im sticking with the old saying, "anyone but the yankees". :D

Don't hate the Yanks . . . it is a sad year for them. I'm still PISSED that ownership is willing to throw away one of the greatest stadiums ever built in order to make a few more bucks on luxury boxes; of course the cost to do that is $850 million from the taxpayer's pockets. It is disgusting and should be a crime.
On to Cubs v. Rays - that would be cool . . . hopefully the Mets live another day to prevent that from happening. Looks like we'll be facing the Cubbies in round 1 if we make it.

I'm not going to lie Josh I really don't want the Mets to make it. I do not want to have anything to do with them in the playoffs they can look like one of the best teams in the league or they can look terrible. It wouldn't be good for any team to catch them while they are hot.
I want the Cubs to face LA first round then hope the Brewers make it and face them in the second. I would really like to see a Cubs, Red Sox series. There is a lot of tradition between those two teams the only thing that would make it better was if it was Boston 5 years ago, before they won the titles.

I agree with you a ton, except that LA is on FIRE right now. Any team in the playoffs has a shot. NY is short of pitching so I think we can handle them. I see the same issue for Milwaukee so I am not sure they would make it past the Phillies.
It all comes down to Pitching in the post season, and we will see how well our staff holds up.

I really hope Philly doesn't get by the Brewers. Cole Hamels is a Cubs killer, and I don't want Rollins or the Flyin' Hawaiian on the basses to get into Z's head even more. No matter what I think it is finally here men.

Well, I do believe the Mets were 55-38 under Jerry Manual. I blame the owners for not dumping Willie earlier. Manuel did not have a closer (Wagner) or a key starter (Mayne) yet was 17 games over .500. I would be excited for next year and a new stadium!

No reason to beat a dead horse. I would say that the CUBS lost more than the Dodgers won though. Kind of hard to lose when a team commits 4 errors, or when the starting pitcher gives up 7 walks.

Being a Cardinals fan I must admit I enjoyed seeing the Cubs lose. Looks like it is going to be the Phillies and the Rays. Do you think anyone predicted that one?

As a lifelong Chicago area resident, I often wonder when Cub fans will abandon them in protest. I think the Cubs deserve a season off from their fans. I'm not a baseball fan, period- but if I was I just don't see how I could put up with these losers.
