An odd thought came to me, probably not workable, but maybe an interesting mental exercise.
Most of the deal postings on BP are looking for funding so why not put together an investment fund with BP users?
Being foolishly simplistic, 25,000 BP users puting in $10 each is a quarter million bucks. What could we accomplish with that? There seems to be no shortage of great deals out there.
I know getting everyone to participate would be impossible, but how many of you would? What if the the 300+ users that log on each day kicked in $100 each? That's still a decent chunk of cash to do something interesting.
Any thoughts?

It has been done before in smaller groups and usually people that know each other, but if it's structured right and everyones money is secured (somehow) ...then....it's a good idea... there's a good potential return.

Could pose SEC problems. One way around that (which I know of) is the use of an LLC. Having so many members could be a problem. Great idea, but would need the consult of an experienced attorney in this field.

I like this idea. But why not put in 100 bucks each instead. Let's get something in Malibu or Manhattan :) Ok, on the serious side, I like the BP REIT idea.

Perhaps we could all PM our BP colleague list and ask them to look at this post to see if the idea gains traction within the BP community.

As I said, I am in as well.
As far as increasing the $10, I also agree Matty. Why not make it even more, but still affordable for everyone?
Say somewhere betwwen $100 & $500 times a minimum of 1,000 active BP members = a nice down payment!
Where are all the attorneys on BP?

Great idea about sending a PM to our collegues. Everyone with a collegue list reading this thread should do just that.
Perhaps we can get an attorney to respond as this may not work legally.

the issue of what to invest in would be a good issue to deal with... that would meean that we have a plan together already !
Also, we would be investing in the best ROI... there are great minds here in BP.
If it happens....I'm in !

I have a thought. We keep asking BP to do different things and it all takes time and costs money. How about everyone donating the $10 NOW as a show of good intentions to help the BP instead of just being a drag. Even when I was poor and boke, I could give up a latte or meal out worth $10. Come on guys and gals. Help make this easier and better. Rich.

I'm in Manhattan, and its around 17 degrees today...Matty how about we get an island instead, we can hold annual BP brainstorming sessions on it... and rent it out the rest of the year
Maybe a criteria for being apart of this should be that you must have donated to BP.......

Robert- don't need an island, just convince me to use one of my condos on Cancun. I leave sunday for 12 days in the 80 degrees . I agree with Jim. We're trying to help improve the site with donations. You can do it and so can others.
