I am getting all into this social networking stuff. I need a phone that can do more.
Here's what I'd like my phone to do:
-Access the internet so I can pull up listings for homes I see for sale while I'm out.
-I need GPS to find home's address
-Stay connected to emails, twitter, myspace etc. while I'm out of office.
-I need a good schedule keeper callender thing
-Not much related to this site, but I'd like to be able to keep track of my workouts.
I know a lot of you are far more into twitter and facebook than I. Many of you are big tech geeks. I just started dabbling. So, geek, help a brotha out.
What do you suggest? Blackberry, iphone, palm and why.
Get a Blackberry... either the Bold or 8900 (depending on your carrier). I've owned both the iPhone and BB and I have to say that I am more impressed with the BB.
I'm always away from the computer so something that I usually look for when buying a phone is functionality, the ability to do most of the things that can be done on the computer and BB can do that (it's not a phone, but a computer with phone capabilities). The emailing capabilities of this phone is brilliant. Something RIM should definitely work on is the web browser because iPhone has definitely got them beat in that area.
...and now for the big question? How much does it cost? I currently have 3 cellphones (me, my wife, and son) and I pay a little north of $200 per month. If I had 3 iPhones, how much would I pay each month?
I HATE paying $200 each month for my cell phones - I think that is RIDICULOUS!
I also have a Razor with Sprint (and a bluetooth) and have been satisfied with it. I use it for phone and text (when I have to). I tried the internet and GPS. The internet was far too slow to be useful and it didn't connect properly about half the time; and the GPS was just about worthless. I had the data pack removed from my package.
Hope I'm not too late with this information, but I just listened to a webinar on phones for real estate agents. A lot of your choice will depend on what you feel comfortable with personally, but the webinar really ended up in favor of the Palm. One big consideration was the use of MLS and keysafes and the other phones were not really REALTOR friendly.
I have the palm Treo 700p and have gone through the entire series of Palm phones. I am excited about the new Palm Pre which will be released soon.
The speaker in the webinar for the Palm products is a nationally known trainer, Dick Betts. His web is his name (no spaces dot com). I would recommend looking at it before deciding.
If I wasn't a real estate broker, I probably would say iPhone then BB.

Good luck,

Thanks Gary, No your no too late. Thanks for the input. I'll check it out.
I think the coverage of all US companies stinks. I have had AT&T, Verizon and Sprint and my friends have had all the others. One day Sprint is best and the next it is the worst. One phone I kept with AT&T for over 12 years while all my friends and associates kept trying to switch back and forth. It didn't seem to help them.
What we really need is some real improvement from all the companies. My Sprint service has been fair and I have traveled extensively over most of the US and Mexico.
I've met with consultants and technicians and it all comes down to the fact that there really isn't much difference except for personal preference --- and again, all US carriers give the bare minimum of service.
Just get a phone that offers VOIP service. If you can get it, you don't have to worry about all of those rental moneys you're wasting away with those sleazy, frivolous iphones. Hah!

Pretty militant but I'm ok with that. Thanks for the input.
as an IT expert, Palm's create a whole lot of headaches. Don't trust them to keep your data safe I can't tell you how many times I've had to help people work out synch issues
I took the plunge and got the iphone G3. It's awsome. I went on a run last night and it tracked my run distance, pace and average speed all while I jammed to my itunes.
I can also twitter on demand, email, and browse the web. This is useful to me since I have an hour commute.
my old Crackberry Curve is getting traded in for an iphone now. I've always had a Crackberry, but after my 2 oldest kids begged and pleaded for a iTouch I opted to get them an iPhone to have best of both worlds. It was hard to get them to part with their BB Pearls but now I'm a little jealous b/c they have some pretty cool apps that Crackberry could never do.
it's pretty sad when you're jealous of your own pre-teens and their phones. Time to become cool again :)
Don't even get me started, those little terdbuckets rock 58" flats in the bedrooms!
I rock a 65" flat in the living room, but I grew up with thinking a 27" tube was only for famous people b/c my parents rocked a 19" tube in the living room.
Don't get me wrong, they're not completely spoiled, we'll maybe............but they do very well in their school, volunteer a lot of their free time and can kick anyone's butt on the board game Cashflow. My kids are my "Why" so I enjoy providing for them.
Has anyone "jailbreak" 'd their phone? I'm curious before I do if it ends up messing anything up.
