We will have settlement Nov. 19 on a single family home with a small front & backyard; it needs some quick clean up. Any tips on plants, other ways of landscaping in Nov./Dec in PA to make it appealing & low maintenance?

Nice landscaping is really unique to each property. That said, you can still install plants in November, December gets tough because the ground freezes. I would recommend going with a variety of evergreen and deciduous shrubs as a base then add in some perennials and groundcovers. Think about mixing contrasting colors and textures with leaves and flowers. If you have the budget, add in a little stone or paver patio area. Use a small flowering tree like a dogwood or amelanchier to add some structure to a space, think about it as creating outdoor "rooms". I personally try to minimize lawns because they are labor, water, and energy intensive, but thats up to you. Don't forget a good mulch in the planting beds ( not that colored garbage, use something like sweet peat ). It will be tough to make a big impact this time of year because plants are dormant but things will really pop come spring. Good luck!
