Everything you need to know is on this website, but if you want a textbook example on how you should run things I would suggest Flip: How to Find, Fix, and Sell Houses for Profit.
This is really the only book I would get on the subject of rehabbing. Maybe pick up a book on how to inspect a house as well.

Of course, as I mentioned on the podcast, I got my start here on BP, so I have to roll that credit up to Josh and many of the other long-term folks here who gave me the inspiration and knowledge to get started (as well as plenty of newer folks that are teaching me stuff every single day)...this is an amazing place with lots of generous people...

I must butt in here and give my input. I bought J Scott's book the other day with the intention of reading it after I finished my current reading material. With that said I downloaded the e-book version immediately. When I took a glance at it I ended up reading the first 40 pages. That is not my typical glance. I assure you I am not being a prisoner of the moment here either. The book should have been dedicated to me and all the other beginning investors. Although, I have yet to read it in it's entirety I give my utmost recommendation (For whatever thats worth).

Oh man Mike I wish you haven't said that as if J Scott's ego isn't big enough. If his ego keeps getting bigger Joshua Dorkin might have to use another server just to accommodate it :)-
J/K :) I'm glad you found inspiration from JS. Judging from the reviews on here I might just pick up that book as I'm always learning and like to keep learning.

A great friend and huge inspiration to me just recommended three books tonight. The first Keller book mentioned above, his other book, Flip and Hold, and a third book set to release soon, The One Thing. The latter is about focus, and when it comes to the beginnings of a real estate investing carer, I hear focus can be a valuable asset!
J Scott, I'm not even half way through your blog. I'm enjoying the evolution of a SFH strategy, and I chuckle often because I read a few more recent blogs before starting at the beginning, so I'm constantly thinking, "Well, we know how THAT'S going to turn out!" I can't wait to get current and then order your books.
