New to Fort Worth and Investing

Hello,

About a year ago I got my hands on Rich Dad Poor Dad and I haven't stopped buying BP books since finding out about this community. Knowledge is only half the battle so I was hoping to reach out to other investors to trade my time for experience. 

My interests are buy and hold investing starting off with a house hack or two. I read the rental property investing book and am making my way through the house hacking book now. 

I just graduated from college so building credit and capital is currently what I'm working on.

@Jack Pawlowicz you came to the right spot! I fell into RDPD and then found BP about 4 years ago and it's been an incredible journey. Dive in and enjoy - learn as much as you can... and make some great connections!

    Hey Jack, house hacking in Fort Worth was awesome for me. That's how I did my first couple of houses (just renting out bedrooms.) If you have some money saved up, I'd highly recommend jumping into it as soon as you can, and if you can save up enough to buy a new house hack once a year, you really can't beat 5% down and interest rates under 4%. I'm married now, which makes all of the moving much more difficult (my wife loves our current house, and would be very sad to leave!) So the earlier you start and the more house hacks you can do, the better.

    I am in the same boat as you. I will be graduating in a few weeks and then moving to Fort Worth. I will be renting for a year while actively looking for deals in the area to start my first house hack.

    Hey Jack ! I had the same idea, I have been paying rent for a duplex in Fort Worth for nearly the last decade, rent was so high I could never save up money. I found BP earlier this month and am also looking to house hack, wholesale,  and get into buy/hold. I plan to purchase my first property to house hack between October-December of this year (2021.) You first posted this nearly a month ago, can I ask how is everything going for you and what progress you've made?

    So far I am still in my capital raising stages, to me that is slowly saving enough money to buy home #1, but just the other day I started driving around neighborhoods finding areas that I would like to invest in. Since I'm relatively new to the area I'm taking every opportunity to network.

    That sounds like an awesome strategy. Yesterday I saw a post from another member.. He holds meetings with local investors and BP community.     Good, I hope it happens soon, I know it will prove to be very productive. When I finally get in a position where I attend one of the events I hope I'll know at least ONE person there!

    Hey @Jack Pawlowicz - RDPD is an awesome start. I own a couple investment properties up in CT and travel to TX every 3-4 months for work. Would love to connect next time I am in DFW. Let me know if you have any questions on student rentals or financing/house-hacking.

    @Benjamin Carver I currently have 3 places that I'm keeping an eye on to better understand. I am looking near 7th street in Fort Worth, northeastern Fort Worth, and Be brook/ White Settlement area. My reasoning varies from pricing, proximity to work, and crime rates in the area
