i am a little leery of John T Reeds advice as he has not done a real estate deal in this decade. He seems like a bright guy and does have a good angle (dwell on negative) to bring in viewers.

that said - I have a slightly different story.

I signed up for RichDad coaching over 4 months ago and have been through 16 weeks of their mentoring. I have also read and underlined most of the RichDad books and listened to all of their CD's and all of their podcast.

I have found the program to be helpful - but it will not be the magic silver bullet to make you a real estate superstar. That is something that you will have to do - each and every day.

I have learned alot - and my real estate coach - Travis - has a lot of real world experience in single family homes and apartment. He challenged me each week to perform daily actions and we set goals. I did a ton of homework and feel like I have gained alot in the past 4 months.

in the end - the program is more about you - and what you will put into it. If you go to a gym and spend a ton of money and think that the Gym is going to make you an Arnold Schwarzenegger - then your sadly mistaken. Arnold put in a lifetime of discipline and money and time to get to where he is at. You will have to do the same.

I would spend $4k again tonite if I knew that I could push myself closer to my dreams and goals.

Today I have 7 quad apartments and 1 single family house - all 100% rented - this is because I devote myself to daily action, I learn through programs like RichDad and others books and CD's and Podcast - and get out there and get the job done. I say that with full humility having worked hard through sweat and backache to get to that point.

I encourage all of you to take the time to learn as much as you can to gain your financial freedom. I will be happy to answer any questions anyone has on the program (or others.. I have a full bookcase of books, CD's, DVD's and cassettes).

all the best to you all in investing 8)

    Hi Guys,

I have just rang to cancel and ask for my refund of $5,000 which was the first of 2 instalments for coaching, which was 1 day after receiving he welcome pack.

Can you guys who cancelled say you got your money back ok ?

As I definitely do not trust them, especially if it is run my a 3rd party.

    Thanks

Thanks guys for your reviews. I've been in a call with them and the Sales man was so pushy to accept the coaching. He started becoming arrogant when I started saying I'll think about and need time to digest this before I have to spend 6,995$. I am looking for an experienced mentor but definitely not something like this. Thanks again guys!

I thought about doing the program because I love all the rich dad books but when I found out it was in the thousands it didn't seem worth it. I'd rather spend the money towards another house. When I had the phone coversation with one of rich dads 'trusted advisors' it was unbelievable. The sales guy from Minnesota or something was incredibly rude and kept making assumptions about what I planned to do with my money. After a while I couldn't take it anymore and I had to end the conversation with him. Terrible pushy sales guy.

Wow...read these reviews and it is definitely an eye opener.  I am disappointed the Robert Kiyosaki would jeopardize his good brand and name to milk more money out of thousands of people through this coaching scheme.  I received a call from Daniel...very arrogant and quite condescending.  They position it so that you are lucky to be chosen as a candidate.  After all, they only have a "handful" of coaches.  I find it interesting that the coaches are employees of Robert...yet, the preaching is to not be an employee and have passive income and flexibility.  Yet, this "sales people" are employees only and probably don't have any other significant investments.  Definitely beware!

i took the $500 course and thought it was good. i did that with 0 experience. read a few of his books and read some others and then saw he was coming to town so i took the $500 course.

as far as the $5000 course, if you are going to take it, i would wait till you have some experience under your belt.  you could use that $5000 towards some marketing and get some real life experience.  along with that $5000 you will find some mentors along the way. some partners. other investors who are more then happy to help you (maybe even split profits with them).

after you have the experiene, i bet the $5000 course is worth it.  i dont think you can ever have enough education, and they definitely help pave a path. although i have never taken anything passed the $500 course

I will say.  i think the rich dad education is better then most of the other programs out there. definitely better than david lindhals program, and i think better than than merrils program.

i dont think robert kiyosaki is a scam artist, hes marketing to people like us just like we market to people in distress.   business is business. and his books definitely do help a ton

I would cancel. I think you have to cancel within the first three days. To find other investors you are already in a good spot. No need to spend $4.500 on coaching for RichDad You can go to real estate groups on facebook. You should also take a look at cre online. Plenty of resources there.

Believe me, I'm in Rich Dad Coaching and their are better options out there!

Just got off the phone with a Rich Dad Coaching sales guy and am very disappointed.

My eyes were first opened to real estate investing after reading Rich Dad, Poor Dad and I am very thankful to Robert for writing this book.  However after talking to this sales guy I feel disgusted by their program.

Everything was great .... until I started asking questions.  He wouldn't give me time to watch testimonials, he wouldn't tell me how many people have completed the program or how many people are currently in the program.  He said this was irrelvant.  Then he got mad at me for saying I need to consult with my husband before I made a decision.

I flat out told him I was concerned this was a scam and he compared this to some door to door sales guy trying to sell him faster internet.  Really?  After more conversation he pretty much said if I didn't make a commitment today I couldn't get into the program.  I told him I need to do my due diligence just like anyone would when buying real estate.

As we were talking, I started googling rich dad consulting reviews and found this comment thread.  THANK YOU Bigger Pockets! You just saved me $6,798.  Now I think I'll join your network instead.

That sounds identical to my story recently! However, a week or so after hanging up on the pushy salesman I was contacted by another rep who claimed to have a close personal relationship with RK, and was "very disappointed" in the behavior of the sales rep. He went on to add that that particular coach had a reputation for that, which I found odd, but nevertheless persuaded me into signing up for the program - the kicker being that I have three days to decide after receiving all of my coaching/mentoring material in the mail if it's really something I want to move forward with. If not, I was assured I'll get a full refund.

Basically, it's sh*t or get off the pot time for me. Has anyone had any good experiences with the mentoring program recently? I know they've had a shaky reputation in years past, but I'm inclined to think Robert would have taken some action to improve the program.

Any feedback on this would be appreciated greatly. I'm not sure I'm ready to piss away $6k if that's in fact what I'm in store for.

    Thanks!

    @Anthony Vredenburg

can't comment on whether you would benefit from this..  but you might want to go to the Rare bird Monday night meet ups.. in PDX.. pretty good guys run that ..

On top of that you will find the PDX metro area one of the 10 ten toughest markets in the country to find wholesale deals .. if your long term buy and hold and will pay going rate no problem. but if you think you can learn some secret sauce to compete against the locals and get great deals .. then I will dissuade you of that notion.

Also just know RK is just a figure head he has nothing to do with the mentoring or educational company.. absolutely nothing.

Much like when you see bottles of Wine.. Like Arnold palmer  .. he just lends his name for a fee.. my old bizz partner produces the win  Arnie has zero to do with it.. along with many other celebrity endorsements in many categories.. Like do you think Tiger woods drives  Buick ?  :)  I am right up the road in Lake O if you want to grab a cup of coffee happy to talk with you

    Jay,

I really appreciate the thorough feedback. I've just finished reading all of his books, which really got me interested in pursuing real estate as an investment vehicle to generate some cash flow and help me reach my lofty financial goals. According to his books and others I've read recently, this is a much better route than relying on capital gains to get you there, provided it is done right and the due diligence is done.

I will absolutely take you up on your offer for coffee (my treat), however be warned that I'm very green and may get lost in some of your terminology. I would love the opportunity just to pick your brain as I'm really looking for a place to get started which I'm finding to be a bit daunting. I'm extremely eager to learn more about real estate investing and would be very grateful for your time.

Just let me know when you have an opening in your schedule and I should be able to make it work.

    Thanks again!

    Hi All

Aaron hit it on the head there. If you do the work and take action then any good program is worth what you paid for it.  I must say that I don't talk much on this topic because I am a mentor and run a program so I just seem to end up in the topic..lol  It is what you make it to be..Do your research, check with others here before you buy. If you go to a free event know that there will be an upsale because it cost them money to be there. At the next event (2-3 day) for 1,997 or less there will be another big upsale to a 9-40k training. This is the model that is being used in the industry now. I don't agree with it at all. I have trained on Dean's stage as well as Scott Y. and a few others. Have been doing it for some time now and post on here to give back. I can not see changing that kind of money to teach someone how to build a rei business. I can however see 10k for 1 on 1 with paperwork and cell phone connections without limits. I say that because of the time the person is giving up from deals and the life for the next year. But, only one or two out there do that and they are booked solid. Would I spend double that to know what I know now..do I have the answer....

It's a shame. It's the people not the people that have done this... Food for thought..

There is a certain type of person, often someone very entrepreneurial, who will excel under a good coaching program. Not because they couldn't figure it out on their own, but because they are conditioned and open to following a proven path and they succeed.

Now if they could figure out a way to not "sell" to people that don't fit - we wouldn't have anything to talk about!

    @ANthony Vrendenberg,

I don't know if you have made your decision on whether or not to pay for a RD mentor, so I thought I would chime in. My wife and I paid for several "Advanced Training" classes with RD and some were helpful, some were not. The biggest thing we got out of the program was the Mentor.  She gave us 3 days of undivided attention where the two of us were struggling finding properties. She gave us several strategies on how to accumulate leads and talk to them once we were contacted. Her mentorship really jumpstarted our business. After 3 years we still email her when we have questions about a potential deal, or RE questions in general.

    Just my 2 cents,

so far I have only see comments from people that haven't got through the program and people that got scared from a sales pitch, so is hard to take a good opinion about RD coaching, hopefully someone has gone through it to post some more info about all this.

    This is an OLD thread.

But I noticed something interesting reading the whole thing.

I’m poster number 40 and with only 1 or 2 exceptions the posters that were in favor of the coaching are not here anymore. Some of them disappeared 7 years ago; some of them disappeared 5 months ago.

The posters that were critical of the coaching are still active.

Actually I'm more inclined to believe the opposite the Pro Coach people spent their money and got discouraged when it was no longer easy as the mentor made it sound.

tonight I had an interview with one of the coaches from the program. In the beginning j was quoted a price that I thought was affordable for me even though it was a huge payment up front. Being in sales for over 15+ years I kind of knew how this call was going to go. He said they have to go through a process to see if I was a right fit, to make a long story short I was a fit all the way until they asked me to pay $5,000 up front. I let the guy know that I didn't even have that to start even if I wanted to and the price was much higher than I thought I could start. He basically told me I have to go back to the drawing board get my life together and people who fearless make the sacrifice to start. I told him how can I start if I didn't even have the money and basically said. "WERE DONE" if that isn't the worst type of sale approach I don't know what is. It was almost like talking to a credit card collector. It's so sad that people who want to help you reach your goals can't emphasize with you when you are serious. Sam, fraud and highly disappointed
