My Logo Suck? Give me feedback and help shape it!

Hey BP Colleagues!

Does my logo suck?
Please check out I'm having designed, vote, and give me feedback!! You can influence the best logo now! I still have time to do edits with the designers also..

@Omi C., @Anja Brey, @Shane Pearlman, @Arlen Chou, @Johnson H., @Account Closed,  what do you businesspeople think? How about some strangers that don't know me, from Denver, Seattle, & Austin? You're a bunch of techies with good design know-how, right? Anyone from New York City, Miami, Boston that could chime in?

Hey @J. Martin

Take a look at running a "preference test" on Verify App http://verifyapp.com/tour/preference-test

I use them for the work I do A/B testing and conversion rate optimization, I'm in no way affiliated with them. 

Anyway, you can do a free trial, take the jpegs from 99 designs, and have complete strangers vote on which is best. I think that's a pretty good way of getting people's "visceral" gut reactions to it, if you're interested.

    This is a great resource for this question. Once I narrow the logo down to 2 or 3, I think I will try this option. Like @Arlen Chou also said to me earlier, it's great to get independent parties' reactions, especially when they don't already know what I'm doing - so they are not influenced by that knowledge.

    You seem to know something about design.. What do you think about these?

    I'm glad someone else is using 99designs!

    On to the logo. Have you considered branching out from the bed? I guess when I first see it I immediately think you're going to furnish my home with beds. I voted though!

    All of them are better logos.

    Picking one will depend on what you want to communicate.

    For example (to me),

     #4 or #45 communicate a place to sleep that is furnished

    #4 and #48 communicate a furniture store. IE furnishing for my home

    #36 and #48 also remind me of a psychologists bed

    #22 has a more sterile hotel fee compared to #45 has a warm welcoming feel.

    personally, I like #45 the best.

    #4 stands out to me as the "eye-catcher." That shade of blue is more modern and the text is more impactful. When I shrunk my screen size to see them all at once, #4 stood out. I'm not a big fan of the standard, corporate-issue navy blue.

    These are great! I've never been on 99 Designs but I'm definitely going to have to check it out now. Great job working towards improving your logo. I don't think that many people realize how important a strong logo is in presenting yourself and and your business.

    I voted, and #22, #29, and #45 are definitely my favorites. Hoping you update us with the final decision when you get there!

    The original one seems a lot like the Hotel Tonight one!

    One thing I had issues in the past with logos is how they look in Black and White and the lenght/widht ratio, you may want to ask your designers to provide a BW version to get a sense. For this reason I voted #29 even though the text is probably a bit too small and you cannot get that the inside of the house is a bed if you don't look at it when it's bigger.

    As far as freelancer platforms you can also check out https://www.fiverr.com/. A logo running rate is $5.

    @Raimondo F. Just speaking from personal experience, fiverr is a great resource but for logos I would avoid it. I tried creating logos from many different artists and no matter what I paid almost every one was blatantly plagiarized from a preexisting logo or they used a "logo generator" to give me the content.

    Plus, they frequently recycle logos. Which is not what you want when branding your company.

    I have used fiverr for MANY other things though and with great success!

    @Raimondo F. I've used Fiverr for logos, but you have to be very specific on what you're looking for. Typically, I'll draw it out and have someone on Fiverr create a vector file of my drawing for $10 or less. It's working out great thus far. Obviously design is objective, but here's a logo I recently had someone create for $5 - http://www.britelitehomes.com/.

    @J. Martin I think it needs to reflect your laid back style....the ones you have seem standard for the RE industry.  Put a flipflop on it?

    This is so awesome!! Thank you all! I'm posting the results of the top 3 votes, including comments, below! @Account Closed, if you are Colton S below... I agree it is not very abstract, but that's what I asked for because I want disinterested parties to be able to tell quickly..

    #29 was pretty popular, but I think it is very difficult to tell what is inside the house. Just looks like a house with a  weird shape inside to me (and I know what it is supposed to be..)

    A version of this #36 below was my favorite. I had them add the orange to make it pop a little. I agree that the Home.com text does not work, by color, or with the .com. I'll keep this one in the running, but will have them make some tweaks..

    Nice choices! The first one in your recent screen cap is the only one that passes the squint test IMHO (can you tell what it is when you squint your eyes? Good indicator of readability and shape recognition). For all three, "home" is unreadable in smaller forms. I'd lean toward the first one, but suggest scaling up that word a bit and maybe adding a little overhang/soffit to the roof so that shape reads better as a house.

    @Colton S. it's not a surprise that people are gaming Fiverr and 99 designs with logo generators. I work with a decent spectrum of designers during the day, and a typical logo like this would cost a few hundred to a few thousand dollars. Good designers scoff at these companies as exploitative, and playing the exposure card to get young artists to work for less than they are worth, devaluing the worth of art in the long run. That's why they attract mostly scammers who slap stuff together. You may unknowingly be buying someone else's logo with your name on it. I'm sure there's some good young artists doing work, but it won't take them long to realize that their student loans aren't going to get paid back with $5/multiple hrs. Perhaps they are from impoverished countries where 5 USD goes a long way?  Anyway, from the other side, if you can get a good looking logo for a few bucks, why wouldn't you? Nobody is forcing these artists to sign up. 

    As with most things in life, you get what you pay for. :)

    I personally like #29. They all have pros and cons, but 29 to me fits the logo of today. It's simple, clean, modern (clean edges) and is to the point. The others are to the point too but clean edges and simple I feel are what makes this one stand out. If you look at many companies and their logo, they've gone to simple..even the iPhone and stuff like that..all the apps and everything has gone to simple. Just a personal opinion.

    I don't think your logo sucks at all but if you're not happy with it there are some free apps out there with free templates where you can make your own logo for free . The one I used was DesignApp . Just play around with the free templates & tweak the colors & fonts to your personal taste & voila ! I also tried using Assembly but I didn't find it quite as user friendly as the first app I suggested ! Good luck 🍀

    Hey mate,

    I don't like any in the link.

    Less is more when creating a logo.

    The concept of the one that you have above with the bed is awesome.

    I would work on that and get your designers to revise.

    Just my opinion :)

    Why 99designs? I used them once. They are great for getting ideas but fiverr.com is sooo much more affordable.
