"Wilco REI Synergy"
A colleague and I are considering starting a meet-up to serve the Round Rock/North Austin/Williamson County area. Many of you may know that there is another one that has been meeting in Round Rock. These guys have been putting out some great information and I would definitely encourage you to check that one out. This meeting we propose would NOT be intended as a "competition" with that one.
What we are considering, however, would be focused less on information and more on informal networking, and learning through guided conversation and possibly even opportunities for evaluating or pitching deals. Please post your thoughts below: Do you think there is a need in this area? Are you already attending a meet-up regularly? What would you like to get out of one? What time frame would you like to have one?

there is a georgetown Meetup currently run by Poem Turner. Costin and I started one in Round Rock and just moved it to north Austin where we have more room, more time , and can meet on a weeknight. It is now called Austin W2 RE Meetup. We meet at Quest IRA the third Thursday evening of each month.

I'm absolutely interested! I attend investor underground, and San Antonio REI. I would love to come and network and grow with you all. I was unaware of a round rock meet up that exists already.

I’d be interested in attending! I live in Georgetown but would be open to anywhere in Round Rock. I’m trying to find more deals north of town because I’m so burned out with getting to Austin.

I definitely think there is a need in this area. I would attend. I am not currently attending any meet-ups but was planning on going to the Killeen/Temple one. I didn't know about the Round Rock one either. I'd like to build my network and this would be a great opportunity to do so.
Folks, please check out this event and consider yourself all invited.
@Jeremy VanDelinder , FYI, we moved the meeting to a new location where we don't have the pressure of time like at RR library and the setup is much better (and the cost is much better than at the library), so networking should be "smoother" - sorry if we failed you in this. I'm curious to learn more on what you mean by "learning through guided conversation" and "opportunities for evaluating deals" - any other feedback is welcomed also, I'm trying to make it better, participation/interaction/suggestions strongly encouraged.

@Costin I. (and @Bill Crider) Thanks for the reply! I certainly did NOT intend this as any kind of criticism of what you guys are doing--hope it didn't come across that way. You guys are putting out some great info--I was just looking toward a slightly different emphasis. Maybe we can interact outside the forum on some of your particular questions.

UPDATE for everyone: We've not forgotten about this. We are looking for the best venue to host the "Wilco REI Synergy" meetup. At this point it will likely be in Round Rock, and we are trying to get things rolling in January. I look forward to meeting you all in person! More details to come soon.

This looks like a motivated group! I don't live in the area and therefore wouldn't be able to attend, but lately I'm on sort of a mission to try to improve the quality of the events I do attend (or are considering).
In my area, Meetups tend to come and go. I used to travel from NJ to Manhattan to attend some really interesting Meetups after work, only to find out once I got there that there were a lot of 'no-shows.'
So I took it upon myself to write a whitepaper with the title "How to Attract Investment Opportunities at Meetup Events".
It is based entirely on my own opinion and experiences, so I would consider it a big favor if any of you were to provide me with your feedback for improvement. If you'd like a copy to review, just send me a PM.

Alan, thank you very much for sending me that whitepaper. It was super helpful and helped me identify several actionable things I could be doing to make my meetups significantly more productive.

I'm interested as well. I've purchased several properties in that area in the last months and I'd love to meet more people that share the same enthusiastic approach towards RE.
