Hey Christopher! Working with a CPA who not only handles taxes but is experienced with multi-entity structures is truly a game-changer. That setup can get complex, and sometimes you can end up overpaying if it's not set up correctly.

A lot of CPAs work virtually now, so you’re not limited to just San Diego if you find someone who really understands real estate investing. That also helps if you ever end up investing in other states. There are also a lot of good ones on here replying to questions like this. I’d suggest interviewing a few to see who’s confident with that kind of structure and can also help you plan ahead, not just file returns.

    Happy to connect!

@Christopher Duron, hi. This is exactly the kind of structure where the right CPA makes a big difference.

You will want someone experienced with multi-entity LLC structures, partnership allocations, and real estate tax strategy.

I work with investors nationwide on similar setups, happy to point you in the right direction or share what to look for so you avoid costly mistakes.

You want to see how much LLC is treated - Are they Single member LLC's considered disregarded for tax purposes.
Or are they multi-member LLC's where they need to file a partnership tax return.

You mentioned California, you want to see if the LLC's are required to pay any annual fees.

    Best of luck!

Happy to help! I work with quite a few clients in California, even though I'm based just across the way in Houston. If you're having trouble finding a responsive CPA or just want a second opinion on a tax question, feel free to reach out. Always happy to be a resource.

    Hi Christopher,

I'd be happy to help. I'm a CPA based in San Diego and work primarily with real estate investors, including LLC structures, holding companies, partnerships, and related tax planning.

Whether a holding company structure is the right fit often depends on your investment strategy, the states involved, asset protection goals, and how the entities are taxed, so it's worth discussing the full picture before making any decisions.

Feel free to check out my profile or send me a message if you'd like to chat. Happy to answer any questions.
