Hi,

I’m Abhishek Sinha, based in New Jersey, I already own few long-term rental. Now I’m focused on breaking into short-term rentals . I’m currently evaluating whether the STR Like the Best concierge program by Michael Chang is the right fit for me versus other programs. If anyone here has been through the program and is open to sharing their experience — I’d really appreciate a quick phone call. Feel free to comment or DM me directly.   Happy to learn and contribute. Thank you so much.

I'd be wary of "courses taught by experts" for big bucks.
Look in the BiggerPockets bookstore.
Here's a "STR bible" to read: https://store.biggerpockets.com/products/short-term-rental-l...

Welcome to the STR space, Abhishek. Since you already have experience with long-term rentals, you're starting from a solid foundation. As you evaluate concierge programs, I'd encourage you to look beyond the marketing and focus on the ongoing support, local market expertise, underwriting guidance, and whether the strategies are still effective in today's regulatory and financing environment. Speaking with several graduates—both those who had great results and those who faced challenges—can provide a well-rounded perspective. Wishing you the best as you grow your portfolio.

Everything you need to know has likely been asked and answered here in this free forum, and people (myself included) are happy to answer any questions and help in your success. I have bought/sold/brokered/managed STR's for over 10 years in FL and NJ and over 200 in total. You do not need to pay for a course.

Information has been free, if you have time to learn every book and listen to every podcast, dig into everybody's mistakes, I would say don't pay anyone any money.

But if you are a busy professional, have a family, no time, then money buys speed. It buys shortcuts. You skip the mistakes someone else already paid for the hard way.

Congratulations on expanding into the short-term rental space, Abhishek.

As you evaluate concierge programs, I'd encourage you to look beyond the marketing and focus on measurable results. Speak with past participants about their actual deals, underwriting process, market selection, revenue assumptions, operational support after the course, and whether the program helped them build a repeatable business rather than just complete one project.

Since you already own long-term rentals, you have a solid foundation. The biggest adjustment with STRs is understanding local regulations, seasonality, occupancy trends, and management systems. Strong underwriting and conservative revenue projections will always outperform optimistic assumptions.

Wishing you the best in your search. I hope you find a program that aligns with your investment goals and provides lasting value.

Hi, did you end up going with STR LTB?

I would ask for concrete work products before comparing promises: a redacted underwriting package, the launch checklist, a sample operating budget, and an example of how an actual property performed against its original assumptions. Also clarify who provides support, the response time, what happens after the initial search or launch period, and which services cost extra. Alumni calls are more useful when you speak with people in different markets and at different outcomes, including someone who decided not to buy. That makes it easier to compare the program fee with hiring local specialists directly.

Great points! I especially agree with comparing actual performance against the original projections. As a Smoky Mountain STR and investment specialist, I always encourage investors to look beyond projected rental income and understand the full picture—purchase price, operating expenses, management fees, financing, and realistic cash flow.

I also think there's tremendous value in working with experienced local professionals who understand the market, regulations, and what makes a property successful. Investors shouldn't have to pay a hefty program fee just to access information and resources a knowledgeable local team can help them navigate.

Ultimately, it's about making an informed investment decision, not just buying into a sales pitch.
