A guest staying for three weeks needs a different communication rhythm from a guest staying two nights.

Longer stays create different needs.

Guests may need:

  • Mid-stay cleaning

  • Fresh linens and towels

  • Supply replenishment

  • Maintenance support

  • Local recommendations

  • Clear communication about property access

That's why I don't believe guest communication should be one-size-fits-all.

For a short stay, the focus may be on smooth check-in, essential information, and a great checkout experience.

For a longer stay, the responsibility continues well beyond arrival.

I believe a good mid-stay support process should include scheduled check-ins, clear arrangements for cleaning and supplies, prompt maintenance follow-up, and communication that respects the guest's privacy.

The goal isn't to message guests constantly. It's to make sure they know how to get help when they need it.

You can definitely have a standard check in experience for both short and mid term stays that is the same. Offering mid term stays a different suite of options like cleans etc is generally just additional services offered on top of the standard check in experience everyone gets.
