I looked into this, but I couldn't find a good solution.I have simple (no bluetooth, no wi-fi, no smarts) locks with keyboard/code at home, for the convenience of not dealing with a key, but they run out of battery quite often and we never had the need to upgrade for something "smarter".For rentals, we use the key ones with smart re-key system (5min to rekey them).

Keep the utilities on, mow the lawn, change the air filter, replace burned out bulbs, test the smoke detectors and replace batteries, shovel snow, rake leaves, haul off trash, etc.For things that may require a special tool or knowledge, I ask them to submit a work order and let us take care of it.

Keys work in all kinds of weather and doesn't need a battery with charge in it.I'm really just looking for a simple way to label my keys without over-engineering the whole system or adding additional steps

Charge and collect full rent, then pay them separately.If you go the route of letting them do a minor thing it better be very clear that it's one time thing with a clear /documentable start finish.One generic example is having them replace a screen or battery in smoke detector.
