Typically, the one sector that actually does better than Self Storage is booze (beer, wine, & spirits).As Self Storage is fundamentally in the "Trauma & Transition" business. 

They cook (amazingly) and provide the wine.

I own a vineyard and need to be close to my wine. 

Luckily I have solid reserves or I'd be a wine day drinker.....

Equities, Bonds (via implied interest-rate), Art, Fine-Wines, and especially Real-Estate.

No one in Washington made a recommendation on wine.  

Because the Fort Myers/Naples area tends to be more upscale, I'm seeing a lot of self storage companies converting portions of their buildings into wine storage and climate controlled vehicle storage which may be one of the ways that they're trying to diversify and break into new market share.
