What fun thing would you do with $25,000 - $30,000

If you were financially free, and just wanted to splurge money on some new hobby or a toy or activity, what is the fun thing you would do?

I will go first.. I am a huge baseball fan, so I would go to every single major league ballpark (all 30 of them) in one single season. We are talking from Fenway to Marlins Park, and Safeco Field to Petco Park, and everything in between.

I would also buy the best seats right behind home plate. Watching Kershaw throw right at you... PRICELESS !

Please don't say...."I will invest in the next real estate venture, or lend money at a gazillion percent interest rate". In reality, I would invest in next property too, but this post is not about that. This is about something that you always dreamed of doing.

Have always wanted to go to Cuba.
That being said, years ago the airlines used to offer a "flight pass" allowing you to travel on the pass anywhere the airline flies and anytime. They used to be around $15k so I'd imagine these days they probably run about $25k. I'd buy one and use it.

It would go to travel. I would find some crazy excursion to do. OR: I would get good seats for the Final Four/Championship and the Super Bowl and if anything left World Cup game or two. Doing major sporting events once is a bucket list ( low on it, but on it). I did two World Series games. ... I need to keep finding properties to flip in our "retirement"!

I would give it to my kids to use toward their real estate investments. Pretty boring I know but the reality is I have and do everything I want already.

Buy a seaworthy Sailboat for about 10K. Sail through the St Lawrence down the coast to the keys. Do some diving and Float around close to some island moving every couple days until the provisions and rum ran out. Sail back to the mainland and sell the boat off on a fire sale to pay for a cheap car, gas and a tent. Take a long slow road trip back stopping at all the sites and camping.
Just my thoughts.

My first thought is that I would invest it, but that's not a very fun answer.
A more interesting answer is that I would buy some gear and backpack around the US. I'd make the travel money stretch as long as possible which is pretty doable when you travel minimally. I love backpacking when I get the chance and having that kind of money to use for adventuring would mean less stress and uncertainty. :)

Go to Europe. Back in 1980 I did that. I sold my silver coin collection, my total net worth for $3000. Thanks to Bunker Hunt's attempt to corner the silver market I did well. I spent it all and came back to the US. Next time I might go to Norway.

I would love to go to the Treetops Hotel in Kenya. This hotel overlooks a watering hole where all the local wildlife come to have a drink. It would be amazing to watch elephants, hippos, giraffes, rhinoceros, buffalo and zebra all together while I'm watching from the hotel in the trees. Plus, I would have to stay in the room that Queen Elizabeth II stayed in, that's a must.

Well y'all had two in last couple of years, of course I am talking about the Royals. Never been to super bowl or any NFL game. No interest in watching NFL in person. I have a much better experience watching it on TV.

My travel and eating out budget is already absurd. I would just continue on that path with the 30k and go wild on First class all the way.
The 900 lap dance response is pretty hilarious @Account Closed although you could probably get a group buy and negotiate a better deal...

We like to cruise.. I would take one of the cruises that starts in Athens or Istanbul and ends up in Singapore... catching the holy land suez canal arab emertis few stops in India Sri Lanka then over to Thailand and end up in Singapore.. then from there fly to Sydney and take a reposition cruze back to San Deigo via south pacific route or over to south America. this would cost a tad more than 30k and be about 45 days .. this is one I am going to do in a few years when I can be that long away from my business.

Ed, I have heard from my Canadian friends that they have seen plenty of Americans going there via Mexico or Canada.

My retirement plan is very similar. I hope to buy a powerboat (yacht) and go island hoping through the keys and Bahamas until in tired of it.
To answer the original question: I would travel and fish as far and as much as I could.

Oh! I have a good one, we did a sailboat day with this old French couple in the Riviera. It was an amazing day and they were awesome people. They cook (amazingly) and provide the wine. They do extended trips where you fully learn sailing along with tons of stops all the way down the coast through Spain, Portugal, and all through Italy.
