Started with a househack myself, we don't lend in New York but best thing you can do is just have a conversation with a lender familiar with it and preferably has done it themselves.  

honestly it was a pretty nostalgic weekend for me, prefer winter in the country to winter in the city though, finding places to put the snow really became an issue.
