Check out Tom Wheelwright, he was in an episode of Clayton Morris’s a couple years ago and he agreed with taking control of your own money as well.

Regarding the Clayton Morris podcast, you are correct that each property you own should be in a separate LLC. 

I plugged the name of the company (Morris Invest) into the search bar (do it if you don't know the story), and my desire to invest out of state evaporated with each review.
