There were some challenges, not every housemate worked out (like the peyote church leader who ended up growing peyote in his closet and had a giant bonfire in the backyard complete with bongo drums and chanting into the wee hours of the morning one time when I was out of town, annoying the neighbors and attracting the police) but the small difficulties were well worth it and through those challenges I learned how to be a landlord (setting proper expectations, being firm but kind, knowing landlord-tenant laws, treating it like a business, being professional etc.).
