I was initially under the impression that a lien was only placed on the house if payments were missed, I didn't know that the lien is placed automatically as a condition of the roof financing in the first place, but that does make more sense.

It also wouldn't bother me if the market went up higher than our initial agreed price because if I can sell it for that price, I am satisfied.
