problems getting to page 2 of dashboard in the recent tab

I go to my dashboard page, and pick the recent tab.

The "Next" arrow button, as well as the number "2" button, at the bottom of the page on the Recent tab seem to just lead to a blank page for me.

This next link did work for me to get to the second page of forum posts:
http://www.biggerpockets.com/forums?page=2

Anybody else having trouble getting to second base, OOPS I meant the second page :lol:

This should be fixed now. Additionally, users can now jump to the last post from the forum feeds in both the dashboard and forum front page.

Homer - phpbb is a good open source package - BiggerPockets is a completely custom built application.

    I have always had that problem. I sent a email to josh about it. If anyone has a answer I would appreciate it.

    Steve - You use unix and firefox, correct?
    Rusty - You said you use android?

    I'm definitely not having that problem on a mac on any browser . . . fill me in again and I'll make a bug ticket.

    I have the same issue with Chrome...it started a few weeks ago when the site was down for a day or so.

    Josh,

    I use multiple operating systems, and multiple browsers as well.

    This particular problem is appearing on Firefox running on Linux. Maybe later I can check on other platfroms, but it seems like it's not unique to me or the platform either.

    Strangely enough, once you use my link in the OP of this thread, all the navigation links at the bottom work properly on that page! So you can workaround this problem by just using my link above, and then go backward (to older threads) from there.

    What URL comes up when you click on page 2? Is it different from the link that you posted?

    We're going to be rebuilding the feeds tomorrow from scratch . . . this whole system was built by a developer who made so many mistakes that we've decided to start over. Hopefully once we push it back up, all the issues we've been dealing with over the past months will be resolved.

    There are no pages at the bottom just the first page displays.

    I guess it will fix itself in a few days.

    I know Joel and I'm not pleased about it. I'm hoping that this is fixed early tomorrow, as I'm already having a difficult time without it.

    Meanwhile, we still have other ways to navigate, including:
    1- using the forum RSS feed http://www.biggerpockets.com/forums.rss where you can see all posts
    2 - viewing by forum through the view all forums link or by navigating by category using the forum sidebar.

    Again, I'm really sorry about this and will do everything possible to get this working again tomorrow.

    I am certain the owners are busy fixing the issue. The advertising dollars and frustration have to be killing them...

    We should thank them for having the free site over complain when something doesnt work "perfect"

    Last perfect person I read about a few peopel wrote a books about his life...

    josh, have you guys thought about going to a different software version?

    something like phpBB?

    that is by far the most user friendly software on the market. as a new BP user, there are so many subcategories that even after ~ 1 month, i am still lost on where to find what i am looking for.

    just a thought.

    I was not "bumping" the thread to complain; I was bumping it to give people a link to the next page of the forums, since I had put that into the OP. Basically, I was putting the workaround back onto page 1, because once it got onto page 2, getting there was tough ...

    Once Josh becaomes aware of an issue, I know that it will be addressed with the priority he feels it deserves, based on his TODO list and the resources available to tackle those issues. Sometimes it takes longer, and so having a workaround does help.

    And for those who are trying to go beyond page 2, and don't see any links at the bottom to get there, you can change the "2" in my OP to whatever page you are seeking ...

    Alas, now I seem to have a problem.

    I no longer get the page 1 2 3 4 etc across the bottom. I do get a "previous" and "next", but it's not as convenient as jumping straight to the page I want.

    I also notice that last post now says "1 day ago" or "2 days ago" etc, instead of giving the date and time. I write down the day and time of the last post I read so I can pick up where I left off next time I'm online. The new way is not better :)

    Not trying to complain, just trying to give feedback.

    Edit: I originally had "next" and "previous" inside angle brackets (less than and greater than). They appeared fine under "quick reply", but the words disappeared when posted. I bet the software interpreted them as html tags and so didn't display them.

    Due to time zone differences, placing a date and time next to a post has caused some folks to have trouble. The solution to that trouble is to use time differences, such as is now being done. I guess Josh can't win for trying - either way he does the time, some way of working will feel out of sorts.

    I do like the ">>" taking you to the post that's most recent ...

    I'm very happy about the new "Jump" link -- we did have to build the dashboard feed back up from scratch to make this work. Again, I'm sorry about the difficulties yesterday.

    Are others concerned about not having pagination on the feed? We removed this to increase the speed of the load, and want to see what other effects it has.

    I liked the old pagination. It is a hassle, but the jump feature is more than worth it in trade if you have to nix it to go back.
