That was, without a doubt, the worst performance I have ever heard in my life from anyone, much less one who is considered to be a professional. There was no artistic intreprtation of the music itself as the term is might imply. The improvised take offs reminded me of birthing cattle in a valley. The inflection and tone throughout her presentation was what I might expect from a drug crazed rapper if a half note could have been held in time. The choreography, as limited as it was, seemed fitting for a junior high solo, and the lyrics were barely recognized, at least those that were bellowed out.
Disgraceful is a good discription.
Sorry, I think that of all the music that could be played at such an event, with artistic license, the national anthem should be performed exactly as it is written. It seems unpatriotic to jazz it up, sing it with a country twang, ball it out as pop, or perform it in any popular style, it is a historic piece and should be presented with reverence and respect.
I think the reason everyone screws with it because they can't sing it the way it is written, it is difficult.
I would rather hear it performed by one of the military choirs with proper accompaniment, say the Marine Band and choir.
