I hit a personal goal today. Anyone else working on a cool goal?

So this was the last day of a fitness/slim-down challenge my extended family and I have been on since January getting ready for a wedding.

This was a SMART (Specific Measurable Attainable Relevant) goal and had a positive result because of it.

We would weigh ourselves every Sunday and report via group text.  Winner of the week gets $5. Winner for the month  $10. Winner overall $40.  Rewading wins during the process help us attain our goal.

I lost 25.6 lbs net and won. I was also the heaviest to begin with, but saw great progress in the amount of pull-ups, dips and push ups I can now do as well.

My next goal is to be a happier and more patient person.  Hard to measure, but gotta try.  I am listening to and doing the tasks of Happiness Advantage by Shawn Achor.  We find what we seek.  Seek the good.

What are you working on?  Any wins to share?

@Steve Vaughan

I made it a goal to seek the good a long time ago. Zig Ziglar would say "The world has never erected a statue to a critic; therefore they're not held in such high esteem" (or something to that effect :) Years ago, when I read Dr Steven Covey's "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People", I decided to began with the end in mind and I would be a person who always found the good in everything and everyone. Seek the good. This idea has transformed my life. It may be hard to measure as a goal, but the more you do it, the better you'll feel...and you can't feel good without a bit of that rubbing off on everyone around you. Best of luck reaching those goals!

    @Steve Vaughan wow congrats on getting your debt down that fast! You are on a roll with hitting some great goals. I only started with around 8-10k. I was lucky enough to have gotten through college without any debt thanks to my parents prepaid tuition. Unfortunately I don’t have a high paying job so it is a little hard to reach my goals as quickly as I would like. But, like you have shown, consistently working towards your goals will make it happen!

    You know I hate to see a couple brothers going the wrong way on the scale.

    I'll tell you my secret.  As the 10x Napper you know it's gotta be easy and convenient.

    Don't eat if you're not hungry!  That's it!  I love intermittent fasting.  Worked up to a steady 16 off, 8 on. Sometimes I forget and do 18 off.  Cut carbs and don't eat in the morning until you are hungry.

    There's a couple tricks about hydration and getting electrolytes and potassium without eating all over youtube.  Check it out and good luck!

     While I appreciate the note, I meant I'm actively trying to gain weight in the gym. Naturally a skinny guy, packing on the LBS.

    @Steve Vaughan, congratulations.  I have been struggling with losing a few unwanted pounds myself.  I was doing great until Christmas and it was 29 degrees below zero.  I quit jogging to the firehall to run.  It doesn't help now that we had a really bad hailstorm and I have over 20 houses needing roofs and some needing windows and siding.  I am getting a light workout in 3 times a week, but would like getting back up to 3 to 5 miles of running a day.  I had lost about 12 pounds, but have gained 4 back.  Sitting behind a desk for 9 or 10 hours a day makes it hard.  Once I get a handle on insurance and adjusters it will help.  I am dealing with 4 insurance companies, by the way never buy American General insurance.  I never noticed my deductible was different from my $1,000 in all my other policies, it is 2% of the gross value of the property, so my one house that is insured for $150K has a $3K deductible.  That is for each house, hehe ow.  I have 9 houses on that policy.

    Great to hear from you, Jerry!  Thank you for the congrats.

    I'm in MT at that wedding and passed along your hail troubles to my contractor bro in law.  After trying to grapple what its like to have 20 roofs period, he suggested to sell one to repair the others.  He he.  Who has 20 roofs he just kept shaking his head.

    If anyone can negotiate with 4 insurance co's and get through this trial I know it's you my friend.  I will be sending good vibes for rain-free weather your way until it is resolved.  This too will soon pass as the saying goes.  Let me know if I can help.
