I don’t have much money but I have saved up enough to get a few BP books within my budget this month, and want to know what you think are the best ones for me to purchase as an absolute rookie.

thanks so much!

Hey! BiggerPockets has a growing catalog of 40+ books to choose from, and we even have a collection for rookies in particular. Here are some of our top recommendations for those just getting started in real estate:

  • Set For Life by Scott Trench: Written by BiggerPockets’ CEO, this personal finance best-seller instills healthy finance and investing habits to set you on track for early financial freedom.
  • How to Invest in Real Estate by Josh Dorkin and Brandon Turner: If you’re not sure which strategy is right for you, this book gives a broader overview of many strategies to help you choose your own investing adventure.
  •  Rental Property Management Book Bundle by Brandon Turner: With more than 800,000 copies sold of these two best-sellers, this package deal covers everything you need to buy a rental property and manage it yourself.

    thanks so much!

#1 - get the required material/text for a Missouri real estate salesperson license and devour that text. They may have it at your local library.

#2 - Browse the Missouri Division of Professional Registration web site and determine what you want to do, as in investor or broker/salesperson

#3 - Regardless of your RE strategy, focus on knowing the Missouri real estate basics, because knowing the legal foundation is paramount to any RE activity you pursue.

Start with Missouri specific books for free from the library, then check out basic RE investment books (the above if they are available) from the library every week.

    Hope that helps
