Selling My Home & Real Estate Commissions

Selling My Home & Real Estate Commissions

I'll be putting my home up for sale within the next several months. I have no desire to pay anywhere near 6% commission.

I'd love to hear some suggestions on what my options are?

Thanks in advance

@Ben M.

I am not an agent. But one of the things I learned at a very young age, was in business, always deal with professionals who have the most experience where experience is needed. This is just my opinion, and others can disagree, but when I am buying or selling the most expensive purchase I have made in my life, my preferences is to use an expert

Now, as mentioned, not all agents are equal, but if you do find a very good one, they are well worth the commission

    Hey @Account Closed - are you really on BP looking for advice... or just online arguments :) ?

    Your account & post history are very young and it seems you're here to simply look to justify your point of "you don't need an agent"

    Let's assume you are who you say you are and actually need to sell a house:

    I'm a broker and investor and its true, you don't need an agent if you know what you're doing! List your house on a FSBO website, or the flat fee online vendors that you've found and offer you a laundry list of services.

    In my experience working with clients that have come to me *after* trying the online services, they're usually left wanting more, such as:

    - market knowledge on what to negotiate (not just pricing)

    - how to leverage online marketing to generate buzz in order to have a line at the open house

    - creating a bidding war between interested buyers

    Again, it boils down to your personal preference but it's worth a try as you say - since you're already an attorney, that's one less thing you have to pay for.

    All commissions are negotiable. Talk to local agents and find someone that 1) good and 2) willing to negotiate on commissions.
