Sectional Sofa Advice for family friendly STR in Sarasota

Hello,

Setting up my STR and thinking a sectional sofa is something i should invest in for the family room. Something that is pet and kid friendly, doesn't sag in a year or two and is aesthetically pleasing.

I have a month until i go live so can wait a few weeks for the right piece. Looking to pay under $3.5k.

Truthfully on the couches across wayfair, joybird, and article and C&B all look similar in design, so is the construction that different to warrant the price difference?

Are there things i should be looking out for that will withstand the wear and tear of a florida STR best?

I'm tempted to order a boneless sofa from temu.com and replace it in a year.... :)

$3.5K seems very expensive for a sectional sofa going into a STR. It will get a bit abused (entertaining guests and used for overnight sleeping). I've purchased several in the past for my STRs and MTRs. If you intend to list the sofa as a sleeping option, then the convertible sleeper sofa options are great. These aren't like a pull out bed, but have a drawer under the cushions that slides out, and converts into an ottoman or bed. Darker colors might be good if you want to hide stains from multiple guests over the years spilling drinks. Wayfair is fine, but most of it is cheap material. Try living spaces or Nebraska furniture mart for something that's quality, and not 3.5K.

Hi @Allison Hertzberg hmm I hear you however, the difference between Wayfair, Article, Joybird, and Crate & Barrel usually comes down to build quality and foam density rather than design, which is why similar styles can perform very differently over time. For Florida, I would avoid linen or loose weaves that trap humidity and stains. Just make sure to get something you won't have to replace in a year. Waiting a few weeks for the right sectional under your budget is the smart move IMO.

I went with LaZBoy dark color, performance fabric and have been happy. Not overly stylish but ok and a decent variety. Interestingly enough a mom and pop store that are dealers offered a better price by $700 as compared to the company’s sale so consider calling around.
