I am a 18 year old freshman student at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas. I'm majoring in entrepreneurship and recently was introduced to the real estate business after reading Rich Dad Poor Dad, I have always loved the idea of investing because of the ability to have one dollar today and make it two dollars tomorrow. I know I am a full time student and am not sure of what the real estate business is like so I was wondering where is a good place to start (I am currently listening to the podcast trying to catch up and also am an avid reader so any book recommendations would be amazing!) I would like to begin learning preferably about wholesaling but any knowledge would be great.

Welcome to BP and congrats for getting involved in real estate at a early age. BP is a great place to learn and you should also check out some local REIA groups. I'm not sure if there are many/any groups in Huntsville but I know there are quite a few in the Houston area. I'm still learning a lot myself but I'm just down the road in Spring if you ever want to JV on deals or share ideas.

We are buy and hold investors. We got started right out of my masters, still new in our careers at 23 and 25 by investing in personal property. We bought our first house with a VA loan, no down payment. It was a foreclosure that needed a TON of work. After we got it fixed up, we rented it out when my husband was transferred. At the same time we have both focused on our careers. We live off one income and invest the other.
Definitely check out the blogs, podcast and forums. Another great source of information is individual blogs found in peoples signatures. Many of us including myself write about our niche. The only thing we all agree about is investing in Real Estate. Beyond that there are many different style and types of investing. My blog/website is about long distance self management, landlording, investing in class A investments, investing in a transient lifestyle, etc.

Read Multiple Streams of Income by Robert Allen. It is the bible when it comes to becoming financially independent. Just follow the steps outlined in the book, and remember it's not about how much you make, it's about how much you keep.

My top three are: "ABC's of Real Estate" by Ken McElroy , "The Real Book of Real Estate" by Kiyosaki, its a written by a collection of contributors covering just about every topic, great way to get started, and "Loopholes of Real Estate" By Garrett Sutton.
I have read each of those books & learned a ton from each one.
Since you are just starting out, take some time to get your education. Talk to folks, find a mentor, read books, listen to the podcast & use the forum.
