Hello BP,
I am building my team right now... and I am curious if anyone could guide me with this question.
Do I want a Attorney that is local to where I live? or do I need them to be local to where I am closing deals.
My attorney, that I used in the past is now deceased... He came to my closings with me... He was based in NYC and that is where I have closed before.. If I were closing 2 hours away.. would that mean he would need to travel? this is why I want to make sure I pick the right location for my attorney.
Unless you are doing expensive or complicated commercial deals you don't need an Attorney to attend settlement with you. The Title Company or Attorney doing the settlement will normally email the settlement docs to you or your Attorney before settlement to review. Don't hire your new Attorney based on location. Hire a good Attorney who will work with you and you feel comfortable with.
