Roughly 5 weeks ago I lost my job due to COVID. I originally had a plan to get my real estate license and use that as side income alongside my pretty well paying job. Since I lost my job, I was able to pull up my real estate exam and I successfully passed 3 weeks ago and am now a licensed agent in PA.
Real estate is a great passion of mine and I have been an active member of BP for about 5 years now, following all of the podcasts, webinars as well as reading the super informative books BP has to offer. Now I have tons of time on my hands to focus on real estate, but do not have any funds to invest.
I was looking to get some input on what some of you would do in my shoes. If you or anyone you know in the state of Pennsylvania are looking to connect or network I would be more than happy to see how we could work together either now or in the future!
Thanks again for all of the constant support this organization has to offer!
@Brandon Ribeiro hey brandon, sorry about the job loss. Where is Sellersville, PA? Maybe we can connect in person or over the phone and chat. I'm in Mechanicsburg. I like talking with other PA investors and learning and sharing. I am also getting interest in flipping some properties.
@Brandon Ribeiro good luck man. I’m in Los Angeles, was doing real estate part time till I was laid off for Covid. Been going 200% in real estate since. If there is anything I can do to help don’t hesitate to reach out
@Maurice Bishop that was my plan originally. Always have to have a pivot plan- mine is the same thing you did. Real estate is now my 200% focus. Keep it up man, I’m sure you’re gonna crush it
I am going to be the odd wo(man) out on this thread...
How well positioned are you to go from a pretty well paying job to (potentially) next to nothing while you build up your real estate gig? I am guessing not particularly, as you state that you have no funds. Sorry to be a downer, but if I were you I would find another w2 gig as soon as you can and start saving. Do this on the side until it you become more established and you see the $$ coming in. Especially as I am thinking that income might be something tech related. Those career paths generally don't respond well to gaps in your resume, if you do need to go back.
@Rachel S. No offense taken whatsoever, I’ve also had conversations with many close friends that are established realtors and they have told me the same. I was actually a project manager in the oil industry prior to this. I have been applying to similar roles as well as some mid level sales roles with solid base salaries as well. My original plan was to work my job alongside real estate until I make enough to leave my day job to focus on building my business.
