How did you make landlord friends besides REIA meetings?

I moved back to my small home town. There's not a lot of networking opportunities like in the big cities here. I'm thinking of mailing a letter to all the landlords address's in the area off of data on the county records. In order to introduce myself and ask if they want to get a coffee and chat. 

I've already joined the local chamber of commerce for their networking events. So that's one step forward.
